Some students in Horry County school district are spending more time on buses than expected, but school officials are asking parents to be patient as they work out issues commonly seen at the beginning of the school year.
Thousands of Horry County Students ride the bus home every day and making sure kids get home safely is the school district’s top priority. But confusion can happen-- especially at the beginning of the school year.
Of the latest four schools transitioning into temporary virtual learning in the Georgetown County School District, around 1,000 students are already home and positive for COVID-19 or in quarantine as a result of a close contact.
A South Carolina Department of Education spokesman said criticism of the agency’s policy against denying a child who doesn’t follow a mask mandate a ride on a school bus relies on a “false assumption.”
