FIRST ALERT: Chilly, breezy Monday followed by rain on Tuesday
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Cool and breezy weather on Monday will be followed by a return of rain chances on Tuesday through Tuesday night.
Chilly weather continues to filter in behind a cold front that moved through the region early Sunday. Northerly winds will continue to push cool temperatures into the region today. Low pressure off shore brings a return to showers by Tuesday.
TODAY
Temperatures this morning are starting in the 30s to near 40 with a gusty breeze pushing the wind chills as low as 30 in some areas. The gusty breeze will continue today with afternoon temperatures only climbing into the middle and upper 50s. Skies will be sunny through the day with a few more clouds by late in the afternoon.
TONIGHT
Clouds will thicken tonight, becoming overcast by early Tuesday. A few showers will be possible by sunrise Tuesday. Temperatures will only drop into the lower 50s along the beaches and into the middle and upper 40s inland.
TUESDAY
Low pressure will ride along the coast of the Carolinas on Tuesday bringing a return to rain chances. Showers will be light during the morning hours. By the afternoon, a few heavier downpours will be possible near the beaches and an isolated thunderstorm can’t be ruled out. Temperatures will be the warmest along the beaches where late afternoon temperatures will reach the middle and upper 60s. Cool air will hang on tight for inland areas with afternoon highs stuck in the middle and upper 50s.
REST OF THE WEEK
The rest of the week will feature cool to chilly weather at times. Nighttime temperatures will drop into the 30s and 40s each night with daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
