FIRST ALERT: Here comes fall!
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A strong cold front will move through the area this evening and usher in a dramatic change to autumn just in time for the official start of the season.
Fall begins at 9:04 PM this evening and it’s around that time that a powerful cold front moves through the area.
HELLO, COLD FRONT
The cold front will be accompanied by areas of clouds and a few stray showers through late this evening before quickly pushing off shore. Behind the front, temperatures will fall quickly through the rest of the night. Morning temperatures will fall into the middle and upper 50s by daybreak Friday.
Friday will see sunny skies through the day along with a gusty breeze at times. Temperatures will only reach the middle 70s - a full 15 to 20 degrees cooler than Thursday.
The core of the cool weather settles in Friday night when inland areas drop into the upper 40s to near 50 while the Grand Strand drops into the middle and upper 50s.
The weekend will continue to be very pleasant with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s again on Saturday. Sunday will warm up a bit, but will still be comfortable with afternoon readings in the lower 80s.
